So today was an official snow day for all of us that works at Miami. Starting Monday night we were under a winter weather advisory, and it was to remain in effect until noon today. I honestly thought that the storm wasn’t going to happen, but it did. And it happened in a big way, we probably got close to 6inches of snow. I know that this isn’t a lot of snow for people from the East Coast, who get this much snow all the time, but this was 6inches of snow and probably and inch of ice in the middle if that. So most of the Tri-State area is officially closed today. Its kinda nice.
I drove Corrine to work today and then went over to Paul’s to hang out at his new place. And we just hung out and watched a movie. Alfred Hitchcock’s, To Catch a Thief. It was a good movie, I mean you can’t really go wrong, with a movie that contains Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.
I’m a nerd so I just installed openID software on the site. This allows people who want to login to the site, to post comments without creating an account on this blog. It makes life easier, less passwords to remember/maintain. Most of the sites that you currently use, probably have openID enabled, but you may not know it. Check out http://openid.net/, openID. Here is a short list of sites that are current providers of openIDs. You can also use google as an openid provider, so if you have a google account you can log into this site and post comments. I’ll work on adding some URL’s here that you can use to login, using.
We spent a fun day going to a friend of ours wedding. She got married yesterday in Rochester, IN.
We borrowed the Campbell van, so all of us, John, Dennis, Rob, Annie, Corrine & I could all take the road trip to the wedding. Dennis backed out at the last minute as he got a good deal to travel out to Boston, so he could spend the weekend with his girlfriend. So without Dennis, the 5 of us piled into the van, and headed north. We spent the day up there and then on the way back, we drove through Carmel, IN, and got a chance to visit with our good friends the Clark’s. Win was the former pastor of OBF, and was the guy who married Corrine and I, so we will always have a close connection with them. It was neat to see their new house, (since John, bought their old one) and see how they are getting settled in the new life in Indiana. I think Nancy is loving it, as she is only a mile from two of the grandkids.
After a good time of fellowshiping, and relaxing it was back on the road, for a short 2hr trip home.
After I tried to sweat other shut off valves over and over Wednesday night, I was so frustrated, I was going to go an buy some apozy or something so they would stop leaking. On my way to the store Wednesday night, I remembered that I had a friend who was a plumber and hopefully he would be able to help me, and maybe sweat my 2 shut off valves for me. So he cam over yesterday and I think he spent all of 20 minutes sweating the two valves, and then we turned on the water and it is all set to go.
So thanks to Vic, for his helpon fixing the valves. Now all I have to do is finish replacing the innards of the tank and our plumbing will be back to normal.
I sweated my first copper pipe last night. I fixed the shut-off valve in our laundry room bathroom. So next will be to fix the toilets, so they don’t leak. Right now the tank on the back of the toilet has a slow leak. Once I replace the inside of the tank, I should be able to put it on the bowl and be ready to go. We’ll see how well that goes an let you know the results.
