Oh, my goodness. Miami just won the West Regional Final in the NCAA Hockey Tournament, and we are going to the Frozen Four. Wow, I can’t believe it… It was an awesome game. Well the first period was a little boring, but we didn’t get to see that part, so that is ok. But the rest was awesome. Miami scored 2 goals in the second period. (Actually Justin Mercier scored them both, but still) 2 goal in the second period. Minnesota-Duluth pulled their goaly with like 6 mintues to go in the game, and then score with 2:08 left in the game to make it a 2-1 game, and we held them off, for the final 2 minutes. And so now the craziness around oxford will begin, everyone should be talking about hockey now..
Wish we could go to the game, but Corrine doesn’t have much vacation time, and we are singing for the Good Friday Service at church, so I guess I could drive up to DC, watch Thursday’s game, then drive back to Oxford for Good Friday Service, and then back to DC for the Saturday Final.. Sounds like a little much driving, so I think I will just sell the tickets. We’ll just watch the game at Paul’s place. (He has cable.)
I forgot to post this earlier but back on March 21, Corrine & I along with John, Paul and Josh (Paul’s friend) went to the “Monster Nationals” up at Wright State in Dayton. It was a crazy time, very loud but pretty funny to watch. It was in the arena, so it was a little small, but definately something that was fun to do once. (We might go again when they are outside or something but this was a pretty small venue) Anyway, here are a few pictures I took on my phone, from the show.
Our beloved hockey team is playing in the NCAA hockey Tournament. They are playing Denver in the first round, so it should be a good game. Denver is coached by one of Miami’s former coaches, Coach Gwozdecky was actually Rico’s coach when he was a player here at Miami, and they Rico went to go work for Gwozdecky as and assistant coach before he came to Miami. And to add to the fun, the games will be played at the University of Minnesota, where Joel Maturi, is the Athletic Director who was the AD that was around when Rico was hired to work at Miami. So definately a small world.
Denver is the #1 Seed in the region and Miami is the #4 so it should be a good game. Check out the game it should be on ESPN2, maybe even in HD if you get it.
I got the last tree in last night. They look nice. I used some of the leftover pvc from the water main, replacement, and am using it for stakes for the trees, and markers so that people won’t run over the trees while they are smaller and harder to see. I forgot to take some pictures so I will take some of the trees and some of the roof too, which is about done.
Corrine and I have been looking at getting some trees to put around our house. We got a flyer in the mail, from a Stark Brothers. We have also heard from a few people the Stark Bros is a good company and have great products, so we decided to order some trees. We order 8 different trees, cause there was a pretty good sale on them. So we got 3 dwarf Gala Apple trees, 2 semi-dwarf golden delicious trees, 2 peach trees, and a nectarine tree. So we are going to turn into a general family fruit farm. Maybe next year we will get some cherry trees to add to the orchard.
Anyway, the trees arived on Friday, and we had hockey games all weekend, and I help Scott with the DestinationImagination regional competition, on Saturday, so I just got around to planting them today. So I have planted 2 of them thus far tonight. I still have 6 more to go but I think they are going to look nice. We are going to put the apple trees in the front yard and the peach and nectarine trees in the back yard. We are looking forward to going into the yard and picking our own fruit, and being able to eat it straight from the tree.
