Trek 2010

So we just returned from Trek yesterday, and it was a great time. This is like the 11th year that I have been able to go to Trek, and it was great cause this year Corrine & Daniel got to come too, which made it a lot of fun. We stayed at the Wus Haus, which is a vacation home that friends of ours bought a few years ago. But it worked out quite well. We went to the island in the morning to spend the day there and then at night after dinner, I drove a boat back to the main land where we drove 2 miles to the house and spent the night. It was a good week and I think all the middle schoolers had a fun time while there as well.

Pizza Night

So Corrine and I have been trying all kinds of Pizza lately, probably, cause it’s so easy to just call the pizza place especially cause they are offering such cheap pizza deals, but we have also been trying frozen pizza. Now we have had some pretty bad frozen ones, I know you know the ones we are talking about. The ones that looks and almost taste like cardboard.

I got an email a few weeks ago, about Tony’s Pizza and they were giving away coupons for free pizza. I jumped on that quick, I mean we just had a baby, I’ll go for anything that is cheap or free. We were like that before Daniel, but we are even more frugal now. Anyway I filled out the form and in the mail a few days ago arrived several coupons for free Tony’s Pizza, (I might send you some, if you tell me what you do for pizza night) Anyway we got the coupons, and I took one to the store and tried it.

This is the pizza we tried, it was the supreme pizza. It was pretty good, we have a turbo broiler, also know as a convection oven, and we cooked the pizza in there, and it tasted pretty good. This Crispy Crust version is a little different then others. I don’t remember having much crust which was nice, there were toppings all the way to the edge. There were several different kinds to choose from so I think we will go back again and try a few other flavors. And they are a good price. (Especially cause Kroger has them on sale right now). So run over to Kroger, or your closest grocery store, and check them out, tell me what you think, and ask me for a free pizza coupon.

First Day back at the office

So today was my first day back at the office. It wasn’t a full day, just half days this week, but that’s still enough, when Daniel is only a month old, and gets up every 2 – 3 hours. I got up at 5am and feed Daniel, instead of going to bed, I figured I should clean bottles, and get ready for work. So I cleaned the bottles, showered, then sanitized the bottles and headed off to work. So far not bad, I got to the office around 6:50am so it was pretty productive hours, then a little after 8am I think I was hitting a wall, but luckily Paul brought me in a cup of coffee, and that helped me make it through the rest of the morning. I had a meeting, and just worked on getting in the groove of being back in the office.

More snow

We got even more snow today, and I think or is still snowing outside right now. Around noon today I went out and figured that I would shovel the driveway in stages, mainly so I would finish it and not get too tired. Papa helped which was great, we got the birm done out by the road and the turnaround area done, and decided we should take a little break. Before coming in I decided I should measure this new snow and we had a new 5 inches of snow. Which is totally crazy since we already had close to 10 inches. I finished shoveling the driveway right before dinner, and the snow was still falling, tonight we are supposed to get another 1 to 3 inches but we might get worse and the wing is picking up, so we might have some big drifts in the morning as well.

Sharmaine made the long journey down to visit us this weekend, dispute the snow. Unfornutately the normal 4hr trip took over 7, but she made it here safely. I spent a hunk of Sat morning shoveling her car out as she got a little stuck in the driveway when she pulled in Friday night. Later in the afternoon, I went out again to do more shoveling, and a guy who was plowing the church across the street, saw the work I had left and drove over and asked of I would like his help. Of course I said with very little hesitation and after like10 minutes he was done with what would jaw probably taken another 3 hours.

Fatherhood Week 1

So it is official, I am a dad. This picture below kind of sums up the past week. It included a lot of firsts, nights of minimal sleep, a whole lot of diapers, staying home for a whole week, only wearing shorts all day even though it is like 20 degrees outside…

This week has been a lot easier with Corrine’s parents here. They have helped with the transition, by helping with the day shift, so Corrine and I can nap from taking the night shift. We are starting to learn the different cries and what some of them mean. So we are getting a little better with that. The first few nights, we didn’t know the difference between a “I have gas”, “I have a dirty diaper” , & “I am hungry”. So we are learning, and I guess that is the first lesson of fatherhood, “Learn from your kids, they are trying to teach you something.”

Another Dr Appt & grandparents arrive

Corrine has another Dr appt today, we should see if she is pretty close to having Daniel, or if we still have more time. I really think that Corrine is getting pretty close, she is starting to waddle, and just get tired from taking short walks, so I think she is about ready for Daniel to join us.

After the Dr. appt, Corrine and I are going to drive up to Columbus to meet he sister, as we exchange parents. They have been up north, visiting the younger 2 sisters and will be now coming down to stay with us as we wait for Daniel to arrive. Its not a bad trip, just hope that Corrine is ok, with sitting in the car for a two hour trip.

Busy weekend

So I think the Nursery is all done. (Atleast for now). I put up a shelf this weekend over the changing table, so there was more surface area to put the wipes or powder, or cream, or whatever ever we might need. We hung a little toy hammock in the corner of the room, cause he has more stuffed animals then we had room for, and we couldn’t put them in the crib so we needed to put them somewhere. We pretty much bought most everything from our registry. Now we are just waiting for a little kid or kidd to join us.

Dresser Restoration

So my mom had this dresser when she was growing up, and she gave it to Corrine and I to use in the babies room.

Well Corrine and I liked the dresser, but it was a little darker then anything else we had or were going to put in the babies room, so we needed to do do something to it to lighten it up. We talked about painting it, but I couldn’t bring myself to painting this dresser that was this old. So Paul and I set out to refinish this dresser. Come back to follow the restoration process.
