Miami came within a few seconds of winning their first ever national championship. It was an awesome game, and the guys played great, but Boston University, won the championship game. It was a tough game, and one that people will be talking about for a while, but sad that we didn’t win, but there is always next year…
Oh, my goodness. Miami just won the West Regional Final in the NCAA Hockey Tournament, and we are going to the Frozen Four. Wow, I can’t believe it… It was an awesome game. Well the first period was a little boring, but we didn’t get to see that part, so that is ok. But the rest was awesome. Miami scored 2 goals in the second period. (Actually Justin Mercier scored them both, but still) 2 goal in the second period. Minnesota-Duluth pulled their goaly with like 6 mintues to go in the game, and then score with 2:08 left in the game to make it a 2-1 game, and we held them off, for the final 2 minutes. And so now the craziness around oxford will begin, everyone should be talking about hockey now..
Wish we could go to the game, but Corrine doesn’t have much vacation time, and we are singing for the Good Friday Service at church, so I guess I could drive up to DC, watch Thursday’s game, then drive back to Oxford for Good Friday Service, and then back to DC for the Saturday Final.. Sounds like a little much driving, so I think I will just sell the tickets. We’ll just watch the game at Paul’s place. (He has cable.)
Our beloved hockey team is playing in the NCAA hockey Tournament. They are playing Denver in the first round, so it should be a good game. Denver is coached by one of Miami’s former coaches, Coach Gwozdecky was actually Rico’s coach when he was a player here at Miami, and they Rico went to go work for Gwozdecky as and assistant coach before he came to Miami. And to add to the fun, the games will be played at the University of Minnesota, where Joel Maturi, is the Athletic Director who was the AD that was around when Rico was hired to work at Miami. So definately a small world.
Denver is the #1 Seed in the region and Miami is the #4 so it should be a good game. Check out the game it should be on ESPN2, maybe even in HD if you get it.
Our beloved Miami Hockey team lost tonight to the Northern Michigan Wildcats. It was on OK game, Saturday’s game was much better. Miami lost in overtime on Saturday night, but they were behind the entire game Sunday. It was a good weekend, but sad that Miami lost. Now we must wait till next Sunday to find out if the season is over for Miami, or if they will get into the NCAA Tournament.
Speaking of NCAA Tournament, Corrine and I have 2 tickets to the NCAA Frozen Four in Washington, DC. The games are on April 9 & 11th. Corrine & I won’t be able to use them, so if anyone is interested in buying them let us know. Send me an email, and ask. I’ll be offering them up on eBay or Stubhub or something like that here in the next few days, so if you are interested email me now.
Corrine and I had a fun time last night, it was Miami’s Charter Day Ball celebrating our 200th Anniversary as an institution. It was a busy day, with moving Dan & Katie into a new place, a hockey game (that Miami won in a shootout) and the Ball, but it was a lot of fun. Rumor has it that there were 5000 people in attendance for the event. This has been my 4th Charter Day Ball, the last 2 have been with Corrine and those are the 2 I remember the best, and the Ball yesterday was much better then the last one we went to. Maybe it was because it was the big 200th celebration, or what, but things seemed better. They were laid out better, things seemed to flow better, something. But I think we liked it better.
We danced a little, had some good food, and had an overall nice time. Here are the pictures we took. The first are of Corrine & I, and the 3 is of Dennis and Elan(Probably the most excited couple on the dance floor. But more about that later.)
